Big Personal Goal
The Aim
The purpose of Big Personal Goal (BPG) is to provide individuals with the opportunity to work towards a personal goal that is important and meaningful to them (e.g. read a book per month, run a marathon, learn how to figure skate, speak Spanish at an intermediate level), while fostering deeper team connections. This is a 6-month initiative which leverages collective support and mutual accountability to strengthen both individual and team growth. It also gives team members something to talk about other than the weather!
Method
1. Reflect on your personal passions and aspirations.
2. Choose a challenging yet achievable goal outside of work that is meaningful to you.
3. Complete the BPG Goal Template:
• What is your goal? Make it clear, compelling & challenging!
• How will you know you’ve achieved it?
• How will you prove it to the team?
• If you don’t achieve your goal, what will you do? (Optional)
• What’s your plan to achieve your goal? (Consider weekly activities, monthly progress, and motivation ideas)
4. Share your completed template with the team through your BPG communication channel.
5. Participate in monthly check-ins to discuss progress, challenges, and wins.
6. Support your teammates’ goals through encouragement and accountability.
7. Document your journey and share updates on the team BPG communication channel.
8. At the six-month mark, present your results to the team.
